Coming off a smokin’ hot two-night run at the Beacon Theatre on December 30 and 31, including New Year’s Eve’s 1973 “Summer Jam” inspired show which featured the music of the Grateful Dead, The Band, and the Alllman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule closed out their New Year’s run with a performance over the weekend at the Tower Theater and welcomed in guests, Ron Holloway, a long-time Mule collaborator, and Paul Ill.

Holloway joined Mule during the first set for “Devil Likes It Slow,” a cover of The J.B.’s “Pass The Peas,” which included a “Shakedown Street” tease, and second set selections “Stratus,” as well as a drums jam with Mule’s Matt Abts. During the encore, Warren Haynes welcomed up bass player Paul Ill who sat in for Mule bass player Jorgen Carlsson on renditions of Robert Johnson’s “Come On Into My Kitchen” and Timmy Shaw’s “Gonna Send You Back To Georgia.”
