Potter played “Release”—which comes off her latest album Daylightsolo, with just a piano and microphone. In a pre-performance interview, she gave some insight into Daylight, which is her first album in over four years. “I didn’t know I was writing an album while it was happening,” she said. “I think I was more journaling for myself on that journey of life.”

Potter also admitted she once considered giving up music. “I didn’t know this album was being recorded even as it was being recorded. That’s one of the things about being married to a record producer,” she laughed while referencing Eric Valentine.

Potter then began a striking rendition of “Release”. Her vocals soared above the piano in the mix as she showed off her range and emotion in the performance of the Daylight single.
