The latest live Grateful Dead video from the band’s recently-launched “All The Years Live” series is now available through the band’s official YouTube page. The new video is a beautiful “Reuben & Cherise” from June 6th, 1991 at Buckeye Lake Music Center in Ohio.
As the band’s official archivist David Lemieux explains in the video’s description, “This was the fourth and final live Grateful Dead performance of this classic Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter song from the Jerry Garcia Band‘s ‘Cats Under The Stars’ album, all four of which were played in 1991.”
The short-lived line-up of the Grateful Dead that featured both Bruce Hornsby and Vince Welnick on keys brought some magical moments, as we can see with this performance. The added layer of keys is the perfect touch on “Reuben & Cherise”, backed by Garcia’s tender vocal lead.
