Greensky Bluegrass guitarist Dave Bruzza will not be joining his band on the long flight to Australia next month. The guitarist is currently recovering from a recent surgery and has tapped Mark Morris (Rapidgrass) to fill in when Greensky plays a pair of April festival dates down under.

“Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know I had surgery a couple weeks ago and I am home recovering,” Bruzza wrote on social media. “The procedure went as planned and I am healing up nicely and will need some more time to continue to heal so I sadly will not be traveling to Australia with the band. I will be in Tahoe, but I am unable to perform.”

The affected gigs include sets at WinterWonderGrass Tahoe in Olympic Valley, CA (3/31), Bluesfest Byron Bay in Tyagarah (4/6–4/7), and Bluesfest Melbourne (4/9). Morris recently sat in with Greensky when the band headlined the 10th-anniversary flagship WinterWonderGrass in Steamboat Springs, CO earlier this month. Additionally, the guitarist made his services available to The String Cheese Incident during the band’s recent three-night run at Belly Up Aspen. Those shows too saw a personnel change as bassist Keith Mosely had to undergo emergency retina surgery and was replaced by a string of ringers including Mike Devol (Greensky Bluegrass), Paul McDaniel (Kyle Hollingsworth Band), and Miles Altgelt of SCI tribute band Cream Cheese Accident.

Greensky Bluegrass recently announced a summer tour, set to culminate with the band’s annual return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in September. Tickets and a full list of tour dates are available here.
