Greensky Bluegrass brought their 2019 summer tour to the roof of New York City’s riverside venue Pier 17 on Friday for an end-of-the-week performance on a perfect evening in lower Manhattan. The popular “jamgrass” outfit continues to tour in promotion of their latest studio album, 2019’s All for Money.

The performance began with a trio of Greensky originals in “Past My Prime”, “No Idea”, and “Loving Over”. Both the band and fans in attendance began to loosen up as Greensky then charged into some of their newer material with the performances of “Like Reflections” and “What You Need”. The band then moved to the covers portion of their opening set with a rendition of Paul Simon‘s “Gumboots”, followed by Charlie Poole‘s “White House Blues”. The first set came to a close with the two-song segue of “Broken Highways” into “It’s Not Mine Anymore”.

The band returned to open the second half of their show with “For Sure” and “Uh Huh”, followed by another new original in “All for Money” and “Old Barns”. The set continued with a three-part, two-song combination beginning with “Broke Mountain Breakdown”, which flowed right into a cover of Jimi Hendrix‘s “The Wind Cries Mary”, before returning to “Broke Mountain Breakdown” to close out the segment. The band kept the music flowing off of the rooftop venue with another tune off of All for Money in “Ashes”, followed by “Hit Parade of Love”. The highlight of the show then followed, as the band welcomed Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Scott Metzger to the stage to help play on a pair of tunes to close the set beginning with “I’d Probably Kill You” and wrapping with “Don’t Lie”.

The band returned to the stage sans Metzger to close the show with a two-song encore of “Just to Lie” into “Big Shot”.
