This weekend, Billy Strings is set to embark on a run of intimate trio shows with fellow flatpicking phenom Bryan Sutton and Strings’ touring bassist Royal Masat. All seven shows are already sold out, but fans can stream every note from the comfort of home with a nugs All Access subscription.

The run will take Strings, Sutton, and Masat to four cities across the Southeast. The brief tour will fittingly begin at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum‘s Woodward Theatre in Owensboro, KY on Friday, September 5th and Saturday the 6th before heading to The Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC on September 11th and 12th.

After that, Strings will return home for two nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 14th and 15th ahead of the tour closer on September 16th at Chattanooga’s The Signal, where Strings’ full band will perform the following night. The full band show on the 17th was not included in nugs’ livestream announcement.

Fans can experience the entire trio run live and on demand with a nugs All Access subscription, offering high-quality audio and video of all seven shows. Strings and Sutton have collaborated on several occasions in recent years, including an intimate duo show at Nashville’s American Legion Inglewood Post 82 on April 7th, 2024, which was released as a live album, Live At The Legion. Before that, Sutton joined Strings and his band during a guest-filled homecoming show at Nashville’s decidedly less intimate Bridgestone Arena in February 2024 and between sets at Ryman Auditorium in 2022. Back in 2020, Strings and Sutton performed together at Nashville’s Station Inn. Full video from that show is available here.

Ahead of the trio tour closer in Chattanooga, Strings is set to be the keynote speaker at the International Bluegrass Music Association‘s 2025 World of Bluegrass Convention, where he will sit down for a live, onstage conversation with acclaimed radio and podcast host Tom Power on Tuesday, September 16th at 4 p.m. ET at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Hours later, he will perform as a trio at The Signal before returning the next night with his full band.

After that, Strings has an appearance at Farm Aid 40 alongside Willie Nelson & FamilyNeil Young and the Chrome HeartsJohn MellencampDave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, and Margo Price on September 20th before heading back to Europe in October. He’ll return stateside for a run of U.S. fall dates, kicking off with three nights in Huntsville, AL and another two-night Halloween run in Baltimore.
