EXCLUSIVE: Aaron Johnston Talks Touring With David Byrne, Brazilian Girls, J.E.D.I., & More
Both Roberts and Lee are no strangers to J.E.D.I, as the two collaborated with the Johnston-led project down at Jazz Fest in New Orleans this past April for a special late-night performance at Maison, which saw a who’s who of rotating musicians from the scene, including Lettuce/Shady Horns‘ Benny Bloom and Ryan Zoidis, The Disco Biscuits‘ Marc Brownstein, Turkuaz‘s Shira Elias, and more. Lee also joined the interstellar maiden voyage of the group back in late 2017, along with Zoidis and The Nth Power‘s Nate Edgar.
In addition to the J.E.D.I. show at Ophelia’s, both Johnston and Roberts will also be joining Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe guitarist DJ Williams’ Shots Fired at Cervantes Other Side that Thursday, August 30th, for a special pre-Phish Dick’s show as part of a lineup featuring Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), Scott Flynn (Odesza), Dan Africano (John Brown’s Body), Todd Stoops (Electric Beethoven), AnDré Mali (Stevie Wonder), and Nick Gerlach (Michal Menert).
