Jeff Tweedy and his band recently gathered at the Hideout Inn to film a performance of Neil Young‘s “The Old Country Waltz” inside the empty Chicago venue. The performance’s pro-shot video shared on Tuesday comes in support of NIVA‘s ongoing efforts to raise money for independent music venues across America which remain closed heading into 2021.
The Americana tune from Young’s 2017 Hitchhiker album grooves along as led by Tweedy on his acoustic guitar and lead vocals, which match well alongside the dreamy notes coming out of his bandmates pedal steel guitar.

The Wilco singer and guitarist closed out his 2020 with the October 23rd release of his latest full-length solo album, Love Is The King, which marked his third solo effort in as many years following 2019’s WARMER and 2018’s WARM. The album’s October arrival lined up with the October 13th release of Tweedy’s second book, How To Write One Song, which was published via Penguin Random House.
