Round Records has offered another preview of GarciaLive Volume 16 with Jerry Garcia Band‘s performance of “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox”. The live cut comes from JGB’s November 15th, 1991 debut at Madison Square Garden.

Appearing midway through set two, Jerry Garcia and his eponymous band already had the crowd at the World’s Most Famous Arena in the palm of their hands. While the Grateful Dead had played MSG many times by 1991—including the band’s nine-night residency two months prior—this was the first appearance for JGB.

It’s immediately apparent from “Breadbox”, and the previously released “My Sisters And My Brothers“, that the crowd made the band feel welcome. With rollicking energy, Garcia leads the way through this Norton Buffalo original with dynamic vocals and inspired leads.

In addition to an array of photos and memorabilia from the tour, the physical release will also host an in-depth liner notes essay from author Dean Budnick, as well as reflections from Melvin Seals, Jacklyn LaBranch, Dennis McNally, and John Popper, who opened the show with his band Blues Traveler.
