This Saturday, August 11th, Jim James will head to Santa Monica, California. There, the My Morning Jacket frontman will perform a free solo acoustic show outdoors hosted by Santa Monica’s public radio station, KCRW. James has been tapped for one of a handful of upcoming “Summer Nights Backyard Parties”, which also double as a celebration of KCRW’s newly opened headquarters on Santa Monica’s CMD Campus.
KCRW explained that for the free performance, Jim James “will treat us all to a luscious solo acoustic performance, ‘exploring songs stripped down as they first occurred in their natural habitat — just voice and guitar.'” In addition to the musical performance, the station has also set up a number of other fun activities to keep fans occupied. In addition to special summer cocktails that will be available for purchase at the performance, Evan Kleiman of the channel’s Good Food program has curated a selection of favorite local food trucks. Plus, vinyl lovers can explore the “Beats Swap Meet”, a hand-selected vinyl pop-up shop.
The show begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 11th, and will span until 11 p.m., with the station noting that the performance will be open to all ages.
