Last month, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead was scheduled to perform Red Rocks Amphitheatre with Medeski, Martin, & Wood. Bad weather prohibited this headlining debut, and moved the show to 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, instead giving the band their first-ever spectacular arena performance. What seemed like bad luck for the spring-tampered-by-snow show has since turned into an exciting turn of events.

The band has secured a new date to headline Red Rocks this summer on Thursday, August 31st, and tickets will go on sale May 12th. Unfortunately, Dave Dreiwitz will be on tour with Ween, and so Dead & Company’s Oteil Burbridge will be stepping in. Burbridge first performed with JRAD on the second weekend of their Brooklyn Bowl run, then again at Fool’s Paradise. These performances alone prove the bassist as the perfect replacement while Dreiwitz is unable to make it.

This new date also falls the night before Phish hosts their annual Dick’s Sporting Goods Park run on September 1-3. Not only does this new date work for Colorado residents, but for those out-of-towners who will be making the trip to see their beloved Phish, and now JRAD, anyway.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has shared an update on this, saying:
