Actor John C. Reilly will go on a brief tour this spring/summer as his musical alter ego, Mister Romantic. The Dewey Cox actor will take his lovely crooner persona on the road for shows in New York City, Los Angeles, and outside Nashville in support of his album, What’s Not To Love?, out June 13th via Eternal Magic Recordings.
Reilly debuted his Mister Romantic vaudeville act in 2022 and has performed sold-out concerts throughout L.A. over the past two years. Videos of the performances are scant online, though The New Yorker described the act as “a crooner in coattails who serenades audiences on a quest for everlasting love.” Mister Romantic’s debut single—a cover of Johnny Mercer‘s 1944 song “Dream”—arrived earlier this month, and it’s, well, dreamy. The project carries a beautiful earnestness of a bygone era, something that would feel at home in a David Lynch film before everything becomes incomprehensible. So if you’re hoping for some Walk Hard satirical antics, you don’t want no part of this sh*t.

Reilly/Mister Romantic will kick off the brief run of shows on May 18th at the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, TN, just outside Nashville. The following month, he will head to NYC for a three-show stint at the Cafe Carlyle on June 11th, 12th, and 13th, culminating with an album release show. Finally, Mister Romantic will close the tour on June 20th at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles.
