John Mayer has announced that he will perform his 2012 album Born And Raised in its entirety for the first time ever (among other songs) on Sunday at Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, MT. The intimate solo acoustic show will be the third of three Rise For The River flood relief benefit concerts, and the performance will be livestreamed via nugs.net.

Born And Raised marked a shift in Mayer’s sound toward folk and Americana that was influenced by listening to Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, making it the perfect record to receive a solo acoustic interpretation. Billboard referred to the album as Mayer’s “most consistently satisfying release yet” after its release in 2012.

Mayer kicked off the Rise For The River series with a very special duo performance with Bob Weir earlier this month. The concert also featured an opening set by Bozeman, MT’s Kitchen Dwellers. The second Rise For The River event took place last Sunday, August 14th and featured Mayer alongside comedian and longtime collaborator and friend Dave Chappelle. This Sunday’s performance will be the final show in the series, and the only to feature Mayer performing by himself.

The Dead & Company guitarist is a longtime resident of Livingston, MT. He first settled in the town in 2011, around the same time that he released Born And Raised, after having surgery on his vocal cords that left him unable to speak or sing for several months. Mayer has a history of supporting the community, including when he donated ventilators to a nearby hospital at the beginning of the pandemic. An auction for tickets to the Rise For The River benefit shows has already raised approximately $65,500, not including regular ticket sales, which sold out at the venue’s capacity of 1,100.

Proceeds from the concerts will benefit the SW MT Flood Relief Fund, a partnership between the Park County Community Foundation and Greater Gallatin United Way. The funding will provide support for immediate needs like emergency shelter, drinking water, food, clothing, and food replacement from lost freezers and refrigerators, and will also help with clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Tickets for Sunday’s Rise For The River benefit are sold out, but you can purchase the livestream via nugs.net here.
