John Mayer‘s ongoing summer arena tour stopped into Viejas Arena in San Diego, CA on Wednesday, where the guitarist treated his southern California fans to 24 songs over two sets for a mid-week music party.
Mayer’s first of two sets began with “Helpless” and “Vultures”, and continued with songs including “Love on the Weekend”, “Who Says”, “Something Like Olivia”, “Belief”, “Why Georgia”, and “Waitin’ on the Day”. Mayer sent fans into set break with “Edge of Desire”.
The second half of the show saw the guitarist and his band return with the folk ballad “Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967” before continuing with “Daughters”, his traditional cover of Tom Petty‘s “Free Fallin'”, “In the Blood”, and “Stop This Train”. The second set continued with songs including “If I Ever Get Around to Living”, “Waiting On the World to Change”, “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room”, and “Dear Marie”.
The show’s two-song encore saw the band return to the stage to send fans home with performances of “Gravity” and “New Light”.
