While King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard recently pushed their North American tour to fall 2022, that hasn’t kept the psych-rockers from performing in their native Australia. On Saturday, King Gizzard released the full-length Live In Sydney ’21 concert film and live album.

Live In Sydney ’21 comes as the latest addition to the band’s “Bootlegger” program, in which they encourage fans to make bootleg copies of select live shows and early recordings. Though the band has released two studio albums during the pandemic, King Gizzard has churned out live recordings at a far more astounding rate.

The trend began back in January 2020 when they began releasing live albums on Bandcamp to raise money for the wildfires that decimated Australia. Since then, KGLW have continued to mine the vault for archival material, as well as keeping fans up to date with recordings of recent concerts.

Captured at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia on April 22nd, 2021, Live In Sydney ’21 gives many fans their first glimpse of a King Gizzard without Eric Moore. The drummer/manager of the group announced his departure back in August 2020, though still remains head of the band’s Flightless Records label and thus still an integral part of Team Gizz. The setlist pays particular attention to King Gizzard’s most recent album, February 2021′ L.W., bookending the show with “If Now Now, Then When” and “K.G.L.W.”, with other tracks sprinkled in.
