Leon Bridges was one of the featured guests on Thursday’s episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden. The virtual edition of the late-night television show welcomed the singer to talk about the relevant social issues before airing a “live” video for “Sweeter”, Bridges’ new collaborative single featuring Terrace Martin released earlier this month. The pre-recorded performance for Thursday’s episode also featured noted jazz pianist Robert Glasper.
“I would say George Floyd was a tipping point for me. Everything in me wanted to be there in that moment with him,” Bridges told host James Corden during the brief interview portion of the episode. “I feel like my role is to just let my music reflect my heart. It was important to release that song [“Sweeter”] now.”
The pre-recorded performance sees Bridges, Martin, Glasper, and a select few backing musicians all spread out in a warehouse setting. Watch the interview and performance from Thursday’s episode below.
