Los Bitchos made their full-length debut on Friday with the release of Let The Festivities Begin! The 11-track offering explores the myriad influences of the instrumental London foursome.

Alongside producer Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Los Bitchos deliver a final product that is, in a word, fun. It’s easy to draw comparisons to fellow instrumental world-music indie outfit Khruangbin, but Los Bitchos take up the mantle with this opening statement. Infectiously dancy South American beats meet up with disco-tinged guitar leads to unite the entire globe in one hopping dance club.

Ahead of the album’s release, Los Bitchos shared a trio of music videos for “Las Panteras“, “Good To Go!“, and “Pista (Fresh Start)“. Conveying a personality is one of the added challenges instrumental ensembles face, but through the cinematic universe, Los Bitchos communicated more through action than lyrics. The videos also played into the band’s highly cinematic style of music that could have been pulled from any Quentin Tarantino shoot-em-up.

That’s more than just an observation, as Los Bitchos confirmed to Brooklyn Vegan that they are all “huge Tarantino fans and the soundtracks are a real inspiration, particularly as an instrumental band.” The band cast a wide net of influences for Let The Festivities Begin!, from Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club to The Sims PC franchise. Los Bitchos went so far as to animate themselves into the life simulation game in their new music video for “The Link Is About To Die”.

“We’ve always felt that our music is very ‘Sims’, particularly our old demos, it just made us feel like we were in a sassy computer game,” the band told Brooklyn Vegan.
