Jeremiah Fraites, the co-founding multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for the popular indie-folk group The Lumineers has released his debut album. Entitled, Piano Piano, the 11-track solo debut from Fraites hears the talented musician deliver an ethereal mix of beautiful and inspiring instrumentals fitting for these stressful times.

The new album released this past Friday (1/22) via Dualtone Music Group expands Fraites’ compositional palette thanks to the sublime playing of calming tones and gentle notation on his piano. From start to finish, the 11 recordings succeed in painting graceful, intimate soundscapes with layers of heartwrenching melodies, and the result is a tranquil and utterly-calming listening experience to match the beauty and stillness of winter.

Though this was a solo effort, Fraites did receive help on select recordings from string musicians including cellists Alex Waterman and Rubin Kodheli, along with Lumineers violinist Lauren Jacobson.

“When I was a king my mom bought me a cassette tape of Beethoven sonatas from a department store in my hometown of Ramsey, NJ,” Fraites said with the arrival of Piano Piano on Friday. “I’d listen to it every night before bed. For years I’d fall asleep to Side A, and the next night, turn it over to Side B, until eventually the tape was worn down. I hope you can find something in my album like I did with that cassette tape.”

The Lumineers returned to the stage late last year to take part in NIVA‘s successful Save Our Stages Fest virtual fundraiser, which managed to haul in an impressive $1.8 million to benefit the “NIVA Emergency Relief Fund” and independent music venues across the country.
