The family of late-rapper Mac Miller announced Tuesday that they will be releasing a posthumous LP of Miller’s work, entitled Circles, next week.
In an Instagram post, the family of Mac Miller (real name Malcom McCormick) stated that an LP of new music that Miller was recording before he passed away in 2018 will be released January 17th.
“At the time of his passing, Malcolm was well into the process of recording his companion album to Swimming, entitled Circles. Two different styles complementing each other, completing a circle—Swimming in Circles was the concept.”
Before he died, Miller was working on the album with Jon Brion, who set aside all other obligations when he heard the rough tracks, according to the family. The McCormicks also thanked Brion and all the dedicated people who worked to make sure that Circles would be enjoyed by fans, even if Miller could not enjoy it himself.
The post also stated that in an effort to “communicate meaningfully while keeping sacred what should be kept sacred” that the post from the newly activated @92tilinfinity Instagram account will be the only post on any official Mac Miller channels.
