Colorado-based jam quartet Magic Beans have announced an extensive 2019 fall tour, which will see the band navigate the east coast, South, Midwest, and Texas. Psychedelic rock fusion trio Cycles will join the band at select stops during the first leg of their tour. For the second leg of the tour, Magic Beans will link up with Chicago-based four-piece Mungion for a special co-headlining run.
Magic Beans—comprised of guitarist Scott Hachey, keyboardist Casey Russell, bassist Chris Duffy, and drummer Cody Wales—continue to tour in support of their recently released studio LP, Off Leash, which arrived on June 21st. Straying away from their regular studio experience, the band sought out more “off leash” methods for the recording process and brought the studio to themselves.
The quartet gathered everything they needed to record into Scott Hachey’s downtown Denver house for three days of non-stop tracking. This resulted in a recording process that was not hindered by time or budget, allowing the band to truly dial in the sounds they wanted, while leaving time for spontaneous exploration and creativity.
Magic Beans’ 2019 fall tour opens up with a performance at Timonium, MD’s Hightopps Backstage on September 7th and ends with a show at Cleveland, OH’s Beachland Ballroom on November 24th. The tour will also see the Beans make stops at Burlington, VT’s Nectar’s (9/26); Portland, ME’s Port City Music Hall (10/2); Philadelphia, PA’s The Foundry (10/5); and Denver, CO’s The Summit (10/26); along with a special three-night run of official String Cheese Incident aftershows at Austin, TX’s Stubbs Indoors on October 31st, November 1st and 2nd.
For their co-headlining tour with Mungion, Magic Beans will offer up performances at Kansas City, MO’s Knuckleheads (11/6); New Orleans, LA’s Howling Wolf (11/10); Asheville, NC’s Salvage Station (11/14); Charleston, SC’s Pour House (11/15); Asbury Park, NJ’s Wonder Bar (11/20); Brooklyn, NY’s Knitting Factory (11/21), and more.
Magic Beans’ Scott Hachey shared his thoughts on hitting the road with Mungion. He explained,
This tour will be something special. The two bands are matched in a way where the overall goal and outcome of our music is the same, however our means of achieving said response varies. Meaning we both set out to lift up the crowds spirits with high energy tunes, but our sounds and musical approach are different. However, both bands run the gamut of genres and songwriting. Anyone who is lucky enough to hit this tour will experience a very wide ranging scope of both familiar and unexpected music. Both bands should inspire each other to their upmost potential.
Mungion’s Justin Reckamp added,
We can’t wait to get out on the road with The Magic Beans! It’s been a little while since we got down to the south and east coast so we’re really looking forward to getting back there to show our fans what we’ve been working on. As far as pairing up with Magic Beans goes, there’s going to be some pretty wild stuff happening both on and off stage so be prepared to get weird. We’ve crossed paths with them for a while now so it’s nice to finally get a chance to tour with them and get to know each other better.
