Margo Price celebrated the release of her latest album, That’s How Rumors Get Started, with a performance of the album’s second track, “Letting Me Down”, on Jimmy Kimmy Live! on Monday.
That’s How Rumors Get Started, which arrived on Friday, marked Price’s third studio effort. The Sturgill Simpson-produced, 10-track offering was set to arrive on May 8th, but was postponed due to the global pandemic. Price made it up to fans with a bit of the personal touch, however, with her “Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner” food/vinyl delivery service on the record’s release date.
Kimmel guest host Iliza Shlesinger introduced Price, who immediately took viewers poolside, taking advantage of her pre-recorded, at-home performance. Beside an ornate, V-shaped pool, Price and her band performed the forlorn tune as Margo worked the pool deck as if it were the Super Bowl halftime show (no running near the pool, of course). With the use of intimate lighting and engaging blocking movements, Price and her team manage to broadcast what was essentially a music video over the television airwaves.
