Matador! Soul Sounds has been taking the world by storm. Since debuting the project at Brooklyn Comes Alive in 2017, the powerhouse funk-soul-jazz-fusion act has kept themselves busy, releasing their debut album, Get Ready, in March and continually captivating audiences across the country. Today, Matador! Soul Sounds has big news for fans, releasing the debut video for their song, “Go On, Love” and announcing a number of fall tour dates in the United States.

For those unfamiliar, the band features a dream lineup of virtuosic players including guitarist Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), drummer Alan Evans (Soulive), keyboardist Chris Spies, and bassist Kevin Scott. With this powerful musical foundation at its core, the band is rounded out by two stunning vocalists, Kimberly Dawson (Pimps of Joytime) and Adryon de León (Orgone). The combination of these key players in the scene is explosive, and the group is rapidly earning critical acclaim both in the U.S. and abroad.

With an ever-growing songbook, Kevin Scott explained to us why the band has so easily gelled together, “To write and record with these guys is so easy it’s scary. Everyone brings their own vibe to what they contribute to the song. Everyone has enough experience to know when to listen and when to contribute.”

“Go On, Love” is one of the standout tracks from the band’s rapidly growing catalog of originals. Initially premiered on Live For Live Music in April, the track shows the group at its finest. Rife with hypnotic grooves and soulful vocal acrobatics, the song is a triumph, highlighting the broad range of the band’s musical prowess.

As Alan Evans described, “This song is a perfect example of why I love this band so much.  Everyone has such distinct personalities and voices that I could clearly feel and hear when I wrote the music for this song.  I also knew Kim and Adryon would come up with the perfect melodic and lyrical content. I love this song, this band, and I know you will too!”

“Al came through with a solid rhythm idea, and Kim and I ran with it. My personal favorite Matador recording to date!” elaborated Adryon de Leon.

As for the new music video for Matador! Soul Sounds’ “Go On, Love”, the video finds the members of Matador! Soul Sounds performing in Color Red studios—Eddie Roberts’ recently launched multi-media platform and recording studio in his home of Denver, Colorado. The music video, produced and edited by J. Mimna Productions, showcases these exciting new facilities and depicts the band doing its thing in a stripped-down and authentic way.

Eddie Roberts is clearly in a period of deeply creative momentum. In the past year he’s founded both Color Red and Matador! Soul Sounds. As he told us, “This song and video represent the coming together of many things for me. My new band, recording a new song, in my new studio, for my new label. This was the culmination of months of work and is the very first recording in Color Red Studios for Color Red Records. It also happens to be a beautiful song written by Alan, Kim, and Adryon!”

Live For Live Music is proud to be a media partner for this video, which was officially premiered under Color Red’s banner. You can check out the new music video for Matador! Soul Sounds’ “Go On, Love” below.
