Eclectic immersive art empire Meow Wolf has announced its seventh permanent exhibition will make its home in New York City. After years of clamoring from East Coast fans, the Santa Fe, NM-founded venture will open a new location in Manhattan’s historic Seaport neighborhood.
The theme, address, and opening date for the Meow Wolf in New York City have yet to be announced but the new location is assured to follow in the organization’s vibrant history. Since launching in Santa Fe in 2008, Meow Wolf has opened permanent exhibitions in Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, and Houston, with a Los Angeles experience set to open in 2026. In addition to one-of-a-kind immersive art experiences, several of the Meow Wolf locations also host concerts in their multi-use spaces.

“New York has always been a city that thrives on reinvention, making it the perfect place for Meow Wolf’s next evolution,” Vince Kadlubek, Meow Wolf Co-Founder and Chief Vision Officer, said in a press release. “I’ve been closely involved in bringing this to life, and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re creating something with a level of creative ambition and next-generation storytelling that pushes beyond anything we’ve done before—an experience that truly belongs in this city.”
Meow Wolf made the NYC announcement during the ongoing South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin this week. During the Dada for Dada: The Power of Absurdity panel, Meow Wolf’s self-proclaimed “king of the undermallers” mascot Plotzo commandeered the stage to reveal the next artistic evolution for the soon-to-be cross-country venture.

“I’m just excited to see an exhibit of ours in the most legendary city,” co-founder Benji Geary said in a release. “New York is its own planet, a hyperobject of culture—self-assured, jaded, but hungry. It devours, reinvents, and warps reality through sheer density of minds. What happens when we throw our weird into that mix? The artists, the energy, the exquisite corpse of collaboration—what egregore will emerge? This isn’t a Meow Wolf exhibit in NYC. It’s NYC’s Meow Wolf exhibit. It’s gonna be what it wants to be.”
