Former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has announced his own line of cannabis, aptly named, “Mind Your Head”.
The announcement from the current Dead & Company drummer on Monday sees him joining a wave of today’s entertainers like Jenny Lewis, Jimmy Buffett, and Dean Ween who are all investing their money and brand behind the blossoming cannabis industry. Hart has teamed up with California-based company Left Coast Ventures for the new initiative, which launches on Tuesday. Hart’s latest adventure will see the release of Mind Your Head Magic Minis 1/3-gram joints, which will be sold at select dispensaries throughout the Northern California region. The product will even come in special tin packaging covered in artwork designed by Hart.

A statement shared by Hart via his Twitter on Tuesday reads, “Excited to share the launch of my new cannabis brand with the world. Our Magic Minis pre-rolls are empowered by the legendary strain Chemdog and are perfect for a creative adventure.”
“Throughout my life and music career, cannabis became my ally, a vehicle of choice for musical exploration,” Hart also mentioned via the newly-launched Mind Your Head website. “Exploring spiritual worlds using psychoactive substances worked the best for inspiring my creativity … Cannabis makes the curious more curious, creating virtual worlds filled with new dimensions.”
The announcement comes just days after CNN published an environmental awareness op-ed written by Hart, where he discussed the balance of nature’s rhythm and mankind’s potential abilities to destroy it.
Fans can pick up some joints at their closest Northern California dispensary and catch one of Hart’s shows when Dead & Company heads back out on tour starting later this month on May 31st. Head to the Dead & Co website for tickets and tour info.
