Phish‘s Mike Gordon and his daughter Tessa Gordon stopped by The Independent in San Francisco on Saturday to sit in with Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis.
The father-daughter duo joined CATS on the penultimate night of their four-show California run—the group’s first outing of 2025—which saw Davis sit in on harp for the second set and encore each night. The Gordons made their surprise appearance in the middle of Saturday’s second set, with Mike playing bass and Tessa handling vocals on the title track from Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis’ collaborative EP, After Sunrise.
Mike Gordon recently collaborated with Davis for the first time on the opposite side of the continent at Brooklyn Bowl during a 50th anniversary celebration for Relix Magazine featuring Taper’s Choice and a host of special guests.

CATS is off the road for now, having concluded the Cali run on Sunday at Felton Music Hall in Felton, CA. Mikaela Davis just announced a run of spring tour dates, while Phish is gearing up to return to the road in April for a West Coast spring tour. Tickets for the band’s summer tour go on sale this Friday, February 28th.
