moe. has released pro-shot footage of the band’s performance of “Crushing” from this past spring. The clip comes from the Buffalo-bred quintet’s March 1st performance at Crystal Bay Club Casino in Nevada.

The video, shared on Friday, comes just one day after moe. released “Crushing” as the second single off its upcoming studio album, THIS IS NOT, WE ARE. The new album marks the veteran jam act’s return to the studio following 2014’s No Guts, No Glory. The record is due out on June 26th via the band’s Fatboy Records.

The song drops in with a steady drum riff accented by the rare keyboard stylings of guitarist Al Schnier, giving the song an “L.A. Woman” kind of feel. “Crushing” showcases a slight turn in the R&B direction, at least for moe., as the emphasis in this song is on the rhythm section of drummer Vinnie Amico and bassist Rob Derhak. Even when guitarist Chuck Garvey does come in for some improvisation, the playing is toned down and understated. Meanwhile, Schnier continues to tickle the ivories as fans imagine what life would be like if moe. had a permanent keyboard player. The answer that this live cut of “Crushing” provides is that the band would enter into more spaced out, communal grooves like the one displayed on March 1st of 2020.
