Great news for moe. fans! Without stepping too far into the future, the band has announced a two-night run on February 2 & 3, 2018 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York–marking the band’s first shows back together since bassist Rob Derhak‘s diagnosis with oropharyngeal cancer in July. Following the band’s official announcement that they would be going on an indefinite hiatus–forcing them to cancel the majority of their Summer Tour, as well as their pending Fall dates–the larger jam community banned together around the bassist in support, with fans starting a fundraiser to cover some of Derhak’s medical expenses. While members of moe. continued to perform in various different settings, Derhak was severely missed over the last few months. With positive updates from the Facebook keeping the moe. community sane, fans can officially rejoice at the great return of Rob Derhak.
According to a press release, the moe. bassist/vocalist has made tremendous strides in his recovery following treatment, and the outpouring of love and support from the fans has been equaled only by the anticipation for the band’s return.
Derhak commented, “It’s been a tough few months, and I couldn’t have done it without the overwhelming support of my family, and my famoe.ly. And although it’s still not clear what the future brings, the positivity and love that I’m feeling for moe.’s and my next chapter is beyond exciting. I feel like a kid counting down the days until Christmas, and our energy as a band, is like nothing I’ve experienced before. Thank you all for the well wishes, prayers, and healing vibes.”
