The Bard, aka Bob Dylan, has released an interactive video for his classic tune “Like a Rolling Stone.” And it is genius. Set up like a TV set, viewers are able to actually channel surf from program to program, while characters from each show lip sync along to the lyrics of the song. Viewers are taken from shows like the Price is Right to Marc Maron‘s WTF podcast, a tennis match to Pawn Stars, and cooking to market watch shows. One channel even features old concert footage from 1966 of Dylan performing the song. It’s an interesting concept, to say the least.
For the video, Dylan teamed up with Interlude and director Vania Heymann, who commented “I’m using the medium of television to look back right at us….You’re flipping yourself to death with switching channels [in real life].” Adds Interlude CEO Yoni Bloch: “You’ll always miss something because you can’t watch everything at the same time.
The video can be viewed at Bob Dylan’s Official Website.
The video’s debut coincides with the release of Dylan’s 47-CD box set The Complete Album Collection Volume 1.
