Netflix has released the first trailer for their forthcoming thriller series which was inspired by the real-life debacle that was 2017’s Fyre Fest. Music and pop culture fans will remember the infamous attempt at an over-priced music festival, which resulted in a $100 million class-action suit and co-founder Billy McFarland being sentenced to some serious prison time.

The streaming platform’s new series, titled The I-Land, will look to tell the cautionary tale of a luxury music festival based on a tropical island which ultimately turns into chaos—sound familiar? The limited series will star Kate Bosworth and Alex Pettyfer, and is set to arrive onto Netflix on September 12th.
The first trailer for the new series was shared by Netflix late last week. The teaser shares a striking resemblance to the original promo video created by Fyre Fest, which ultimately convinced many impressionable folks to spend their inherited trust fund savings on the falsely-promised event. Netflix has already released a documentary on the 2017 event, which arrived earlier this year around the same time that a similar film landed on Hulu.
On a related note, in February of this year, The Lonely Island‘s Jorma Taccone confirmed that the musical comedy trio and actor/flimmaker Seth Rogen are still working on their own comedy about “a music festival that goes horribly wrong.” When news of Fyre Fest’s failure initially broke, The Lonely Island joked on Twitter that they may sue the fest for “stealing [their] idea.”
