Nik Greeley & The Operators are back with “Hold On Me”, the sunshine-filled second track from the funk-soul outfit’s forthcoming album due out this summer. The new track follows the release of the album’s lead single, “Can’t Explain“, last month.

Settling in nicely on top of dual-lead guitar riffs, an island sway, and lyrical winks at the late, great Sam Cooke, “Hold On Me” accelerates into soulful sing-along territory thanks to The Operators, Greeley’s backing band featuring members of Out of the BeardspaceMuscle ToughGnarbot, and the Ardmore Music Hall house band.

Greeley, who counts “Hold On Me” among his favorite songs his band has composed, explains, “The lyrics were written at a time I was very much in love, and while that love didn’t last, this song still brings me back to the beautiful feeling of first falling in love, and the amazing feeling it has over your body and soul. I genuinely hope it brings people that same feeling, and that some folks will share this with the ones they love as a token of their love and affection.”

The push and pull between heavier rock tones and pleasant vocal harmonies under Greeley’s clever, loving lyrics makes for just enough friction to lodge this tune firmly in your head for weeks to come.

As Greeley told Live For Live Music of the new material in February, “It’s been a long time coming for us to put out new music, and we are feeling really great about what we’re about to share with y’all … When we’re able to get back on stage, we plan on taking things up an even higher notch with our live performances and energy.”

Along with the release of “Hold On Me”, Nik Greeley & The Operators have shared a delightful split-screen video that matches the sunny vibes of the tune. While recorded in split-screen style, each members of the band each squeezed as much visual juice as possible out of their respective box, with cameos, dances, and all types of colorful backgrounds cycling in throughout the clip.
