The Peach Music Festival raised the bar yet another rung on Friday by adding Billy & The Kids to an already stacked 2020 lineup. The announcement follows Thursday’s announcement that Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood will join the 2020 Peach lineup.

The supergroup comprised of Bill KreutzmannReed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green), Tom Hamilton (Ghost Light, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), and Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits) will perform at the Scranton, PA festival on July 4th weekend as part of their first string of live shows since 2016. The Peach will mark Billy & The Kids’ second show of the year, following their appearance at Skull & Roses Festival in April. The group had hinted at a possible return to the stage with a not-so-subtle post on a long-dormant social media account by saying “Billy & The Kids Ride Again: 4/2020.” Lo and behold, the Skull & Roses lineup was announced soon thereafter.

The last live Billy & The Kids performance took place at Wanee Music Festival in April of 2016. Since then, the various members have dedicated themselves more fully to their “day jobs,” so to speak. Dead & Company has consistently filled stadiums and arenas across the country as one of the most lucrative acts on the road. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has become a tour-de-force that has managed to escape the “cover band” label and interpret the catalog of the Grateful Dead (and many other bands) in a wholly original way. The Disco Biscuits embarked on their first full-fledged tour in over a decade. Reed Mathis’ Electric Beethoven project, what could be considered among the most ambitious “cover bands” ever attempted, has translated classical music to a modern, jam environment.
