Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has announced they will release their first studio album since 2017’s Pizazz when Presto arrives early next year on January 24th.
The album’s official announcement on Tuesday follows the band’s recent releases of new original singles, “King Kong” featuring Here Come The Mummies horns and “Dawn a New Day“. The album, which will arrive on both CD and double LP formats, will present the band’s most “sophisticated and joyful collection to date, drawing on everything from funk to rock to electronic music as it builds off the group’s unparalleled live energy and hits new heights of emotional and technical maturity,” according to the album’s pre-order page on their website.

To go with the album’s official confirmation, Pigeons also announced a batch of new 2020 tour dates with support from Goose. The newly added dates with Goose will begin on February 5th in Tempe, AZ and continues along the western U.S. before wrapping on February 22nd in Seattle. From there, Pigeons will continue their headlining run sans Goose in Montana, Utah, and Colorado before wrapping on March 1st following a pair of shows in Frisco, CO. Pigeons recently welcomed Goose’s Peter Anspach to sit-in during their Halloween weekend performance at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Connecticut earlier this month.
The band will donate $1 from every ticket sold on the 2020 winter tour to Backline via their recent partnership with the industry-focused nonprofit.
