Pigeons Playing Ping Pong delivered a 13-song performance from an unknown location on Saturday night, which was streamed via Nugs.net for fans around the country to funk along from the safety of their home. The closed performance–which was supposed to follow a stream from tourmates Goose before technical issues forced their own set to Sunday–comes following the postponement of this week’s Presto tour gigs in the Southeast U.S. due to the growing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
A portion of the proceeds from the pay-per-view webcast went to benefit Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which will look to provide assistance to music industry professionals during the current industry shutdown.

The one-set performance included renditions of originals like “Su Casa”, “Distant Times”, “E-Funk”, “Julia”, and “Fun in Funk”, while PPPP also made sure to throw in some unique covers of “Daddy Wasn’t There” from the Austin Powers film franchise, along with a fitting rendition of Phish‘s “Down With Disease”.
“Obviously we’d love to be in the southeast but we’re happy that we were able to reschedule those shows for the second week of August,” singer/guitarist Greg Ormont mentioned at the start of the broadcast. “If you know anything about this band, we quickly decided that we needed to play for you this weekend.”
