Jeffrey Paradise, also known as Poolside, has teamed up with producer Lewis Pesacov and Omar Velasco of Amo Amo for a dreamy, disco reimagining of the Grateful Dead‘s “Shakedown Street”. The song is given a modern-day upgrade with relaxing guitar lines over a smooth beat to go with Paradise and Amo Amo’s subtle vocals, making for a perfect addition to those summertime playlists.
“‘Shakedown Street’ has always been a staple of Poolside’s DJ sets,” Paradise said of his new collaborative release covering one of the Dead’s fan-favorite anthems. “It’s one of the rare songs that can combine rock and disco in a way that totally works. So just in time for Jerry Day, here’s Poolside’s take on the Grateful Dead! It’s always a challenge to cover a classic song and do it justice, especially one with a one chord chorus. This version brings some extra Poolside disco and electronic flavor as a refreshing take on the og while still honoring the master composition.”
