A funky ensemble of Fest by Nite veterans will come together at New Orleans, LA’s Toulouse Theatre late in the night on Saturday, April 26th (technically early-a.m. 4/27) during Jazz Fest to turn the Crescent City into Erotic City with the 2025 edition of Purple Party: A Tribute to Prince [get tickets].
Led once again by Magic Beans keyboardist Casey Russell, the 2025 edition of Live For Live Music’s annual Fest by Nite salute to the Purple One will feature the full, six-piece lineup of veteran Colorado funk outfit The Motet: drummer Dave Watts, keyboardist Joey Porter, guitarist Ryan Jalbert, bassist Garrett Sayers, saxophonist Drew Sayers, and recently recruited vocalist Sarah Clarke. They’ll be joined by an old colleague, soulful vocalist and former The Motet frontman Lyle Divinsky, in addition to five longtime collaborators from the Cool Cool Cool family: Craig Brodhead (guitar, keys), Chris Brouwers (trumpet, keys), Shira Elias (vocals), Sammi Garett (vocals), and Greg Sanderson (saxophone).
Purple Party made its debut during Jazz Fest 2018 and has gone on to host acclaimed performances with various all-star lineups at Brooklyn Comes Alive, Denver’s The Big Melt, floating festival Jam Cruise, and more. This year’s sixth New Orleans edition of Purple Party will notably shift from its typical slot as Live For Live Music’s final late-night on the last Sunday of Jazz Fest to an after-midnight window on Saturday, April 26th, giving all the little red corvettes in the Big Easy the chance to Partyup to the music of Prince with plenty of gas still left in their tanks.
