It’s been one month since the new Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, hit the theatres. The new film, which features Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, was met with huge success at the box office, generating $50 million on its opening weekend in North America, plus an additional $72 million internationally—making it one of the highest-grossing music biopics of all time. So it should come as little surprise that the band Queen has once again announced a North American tour with frontman Adam Lambert.
Queen + Adam Lambert will hit the road for a 23-date tour, dubbed Rhapsody, from early July through August of 2019 with a whole new level of production, which the band’s set designer, Ric Lipson, promises will be their “most spectacular yet, an innovative and interactive celebration of the continued power of Queen’s music.”
As original Queen guitarist Brian May also expressed in a press release, “This is a great opportunity. Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever, and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, America!”
Original drummer Roger Taylor continues, “We are ready for America and raring to get back in the saddle.” Adam Lambert—who first shared the stage with Queen during the American Idol finale in 2009 and has performed over 180 shows with them as their frontman since—added, “We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it!”
The 2019 tour will kick off on July 10th in Vancouver, B with stops in Tacoma, WA (7/12); San Jose, CA (7/14); Phoenix, AZ (7/16); Los Angeles, CA (7/19); Dallas, TX (7/23); Houston, TX (7/24); Detroit, MI (7/27); Toronto, ON (7/28); Washington, DC (7/30); Pittsburgh, PA (7/31); Philadelphia, PA (8/3); Boston, MA (8/4); New York, NY (8/6); Chicago, IL (8/9); St. Paul, MN (8/10); Columbus, OH (8/13); Nashville, TN (8/15); Ft.
