Long time jam group Tea Leaf Green has made a major announcement regarding their lineup, as bassist Reed Mathis will no longer be a part of the band. Mathis joined the group nine years ago, helping to propel their already-growing fan base and set TLG on a path to success. Though he was not a founding member, Mathis was an integral part of the Tea Leaf Green musical experience, and will be sorely missed by all.

The decision to part ways comes just days after Mathis’ new project, Electric Beethoven, made their live debut and announced their debut studio release. With Mathis currently exploring this new project and working as part of both Billy & The Kids and the Golden Gate Wingmen, there will be plenty of opportunities to see the bassist out on the road.

Tea Leaf Green also has a series of tour dates coming up this October, and will most likely announce a replacement for Mathis in the coming days. You can read their full statement below.

After nearly nine years and four genre-spanning albums, Tea Leaf Green and bassist Reed Mathis have decided to part creative ways.

Reed joined us at a pivotal period in the life of our band, and we are forever grateful to him for the integral role he filled in TLG and for the collaborator and friend he has become. Reed has a unique musical voice, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors, the latest of which are the visionary Electric Beethoven project and Golden Gate Wingmen. Check ’em out!

We look forward to the next chapter in our history and will commence this new phase with a run of East Coast shows in October. Joining us on this tour will be beloved Bay Area bassist Eric DiBerardino.

Leafers, thank you for your continued support throughout the evolution of the band. We can’t wait to see you out there on the road!
