Resonance Music & Arts Festival has postponed its 2022 event just weeks before it was due to take place at a new home, Charleston, SC’s Woodlands Nature Reserve, from Thursday, September 15th through Saturday, September 17th.
Festival organizers Essential Productions noted in a lengthy post on Saturday morning that the postponement comes after Dorchester County recently decided to suspend all upcoming music events at the Woodlands Nature Reserve. While they searched for an alternative option for the September 2022 event, the turn-around time was too short for them to bring the festival to fruition in a new location.
Instead, Resonance announced a new venue and confirmed the dates for the postponed festival next year, which will serve as the event’s “Last Dance.” The final edition Resonance Music & Arts Festival will now take place at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH on June 29th–July 1st, 2023.
The 2022 Resonance lineup was due to feature Goose (two nights, four sets), Umphrey’s Mcgee (two nights), Papadosio (three nights), Amon Tobin Presents Two Fingers DJ Set, Lotus (two nights), Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Emancipator, The Floozies, Big Something, Amber Lily, Dizgo, DJ Moldybrain, Easy Honey, Eggy (two sets), ElephantProof (two sets), and more. The festival is offering 2022 ticket-holders the option for refunds as well as a variety of incentives for those who choose to roll their tickets over to 2023. Find more details on ticketing and refunds below.
As the Charleston Post and Courier reported, music events at Woodlands Nature Reserve, which is “primarily used for outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking and hiking, with a handful of music-and-entertainment-related events scattered throughout the year,” require a special permit from the county. The applications for Resonance and an August 27th Slightly Stoopid show at the venue were denied by the planning and zoning committee, Dorchester County’s public information officer, Michelle Mills, told the Post and Courier, because “the scale and frequency of the events held at the Woodlands Nature Reserve are no longer incidental and subordinate to the permitted ecotourism use of the property.”
Woodlands Nature Reserve was due to be the latest in a recent string of new venues for the festival, which began at Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, OH in 2013 and then took place at Thornville, OH’s Legend Valley from 2014–2018. Since then, the jam-meets-electronic festival has bounced around to Cooper’s Lake in Slipper Rock, PA (2019) and Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV (2021). The postponement will now land Resonance Music & Arts Festival back in Ohio for its final hurrah in 2023.

We have recently received news that Dorchester County has indefinitely suspended all music based events at The Woodlands Nature Reserve. This includes all upcoming shows previously scheduled at that location.
Since receiving this news, we have explored replacement venues all over the Charleston area, Southeastern and Midwestern parts of the country. Between availability and logistic concerns, the only viable option is to come back home to Ohio.
There is simply not enough time for our patrons, the lineup, vendors and our staff to change their travel plans to a different part of the country while still providing the experience that we’ve always promised to deliver. We are left with no option but to postpone the event to next year.
This Resonance will be our last and will take place June 29th-July 1st, 2023 at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH. Although a change like this is not ideal, we are thrilled to have secured such an exceptional option. NLQP has hosted shows at their venue for 25+ years and provides one of the greatest camping experiences in the country. Complete with wooded camping, beachside swimming, cliff jumping and more, NLQP is truly one-of-kind.
All ticket holders will have the option to have their ticket refunded but ask you to consider the following options. All GA ticket holders who roll their tickets over to 2023 will have their ticket upgraded to VIP. All VIP ticket holders who roll their tickets over to 2023 will receive 1 GA ticket or VIP upgrade for a future buyer. The VIP area will host a full stage and schedule, poster, pin and other amenities only available to VIPs. Camping pass holders have the option of reserving that pass for our preferred camping area or requesting a refund.
For those who have no other option but to request a refund, please fill out the application at the link below. These must be done manually and will be processed in the order they are received. Please be patient with us and we promise we will get to you. If you prefer not to wait, we have created a link at Cash-or-Trade to open up a ticket transfer portal connecting buyers and sellers across the country. This process is quick and secure: Ticket Transfer Portal | Refunds.
We understand there will be a variety of questions and concerns in response to this news and we will address each of them as soon as possible.
Resonance has faced a lot of challenges and adversity in our history and although we stand at the base of our greatest obstacle yet, the show must go on.
Every challenge we’ve faced, we’ve done so with the support of so many incredible staff, bands, artists, volunteers, vendors and of course, the most resilient and loving fans on the planet. We cannot thank you enough for believing in us and touching our lives in countless ways over the years; we would not be where we are or who we are without you.
We want to express our gratitude for our friends at Legend Valley and all their support during and after our time there. Their belief in us planted the seed that has allowed Resonance to grow. Since leaving Legend Valley in 2018 we have visited countless venues across the country searching for a new home and although we’ve enjoyed some truly miraculous places, one thing has always been true, Ohio is our home.
As much as it saddens us to say that this will be our last Resonance. What better way to celebrate the entirety of this crazy ride than to bring it back to where it all started. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we have some amazing announcements coming your way soon and can promise you that this will be the best Resonance yet!
