Resonate Suwannee Music Festival returns to The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL from April 4th–6th, 2024 for a weekend of jamtronica, funk, and tunes to make you move. After the Herculean task of restoring the beloved outdoor music venue and year-round campground after the damage done last year by Hurricane Idalia, Suwannee owner James Cornett, park manager Teena Peavey, and Park maintenance chief Kenny Harrell are finally able to focus on upcoming events like Resonate. A joint effort by Resonate promoters Essential ProductionsCasey Schnieder, Zack Szabo, and Kevin Harris alongside Suwannee regular, Purple Hat Production’s Paul Levine, Resonate has a packed and stacked weekend in store for everyone lucky enough to attend.

STS9 is coming back to Resonate Suwannee as headliners and is helping curate the event, along with other returning acts like Papadosio, lespecial, and Mark Farina, as well as Suwannee faves like Dumpstaphunk. Ahead of Resonate next weekend, Live For Live Music caught up with co-promoter Paul Levine (Hulaween, Daze Between New Orleans) to talk about returning to Suwannee in April, working with a host band, and the overall goals for the future of the Resonate Festival:

“Resonate 2023 was sort of a ‘first year getting to know each other’ trial run between STS9 and the show so everyone could get a feel for each other before committing to a long-term partnership,” Levine explained. “Everything went smoothly and the vibe was great. Thankfully the band agreed and wanted to continue. … Before we started booking we asked Sound Tribe who they admired and [who] they thought their community would enjoy seeing. A lot of those acts, such as Tycho, Chromeo, and Papadosio, matched our list. We took their suggestions into mind, combined it with our own ‘Resonate’ flavor and came up with what we all feel is a strong, fun lineup!”

When asked for his thoughts on the long-term future of the event, Levine said “There’s an old saying in the festival world, ‘If you’re not growing you’re dying’. Our goal each year is to put on the best show possible and hopefully grow incrementally. Growth helps pay the bills and improve everything year to year and also lets us improve Resonate in all areas this year”.

Speaking of the “us” Paul mentioned, he and his new partners—longtime Resonance Music & Arts Festival (RIP) promoters Schnieder, Szabo, and Harris—are “Truly smart, tough and determined people. They have had to deal with some wicked curveballs over the past few years, like losing their venue for Resonance a few short months before the event through no fault of their own, COVID, and more. They are passionate music fans that love their community and would do most anything to make those fans happy.”

Alongside the aforementioned top-of-the-bill acts like STS9, there’s a dense undercard of organic funk and R&B alongside veteran electronic acts including Ghost-Note, The New Mastersounds, Dimond Saints, K+Lab, and plenty more. The festival made the grade for Live For Live Music‘s “Five Can’t Miss Festivals For Spring 2024” for a reason (a few of them, actually). The lineup is solid, the venue is perfect, and the love and vibes that will surely permeate the Suwannee grounds the first weekend of April are an incredibly potent mix capable of overwhelming even the worst case of the winter blues.
