As previously reported, Black Sabbath is currently in the studio recording w/ legendary music producer and founder of Def Jam Recordings, Rick Rubin. In a new interview released earlier this week, Rubin discusses producing Black Sabbath’s newest album, 13, via the band’s website. Rubin describes the thrill of working with a band that he has a longtime love for, and based on this glimpse into the studio, the feeling appears to be mutual.
The album features original band members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Tony Iommi along with former Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk. 13 will be their first studio album using the name Black Sabbath in almost two decades, and is due out June 11. As L4LM also reported, Sabbath will be touring this summer in support of the album, with dates to be announced in North America, South America, and Europe.
13 will be available in several different formats, including: CD, Deluxe 2-CD Set, Vinyl, or Super Deluxe Box-Set. You can pre-order 13 here.
