Sheryl Crow is gearing up to release her forthcoming studio album of collaborative tracks, Threads, due out on August 30th via Big Machine.
On Wednesday, Sheryl Crow shared the third single off of her forthcoming album, “Prove You Wrong”, featuring Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris. Crow noted via her Twitter that the song also features The Eagles’ Joe Walsh and Vince Gill along with acclaimed session guitarist Waddy Wachtel. Backed by some hard-hitting electric guitar riffs, Crow, Nicks, and Morris offer up a catchy country-lathered chorus that undeniably makes you want to tap your foot along.

“Prove You Wrong” comes on the heels of Crow’s “Live Wire” release featuring Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples, and “Redemption Day” featuring Johnny Cash. “Redemption Day” was originally written by Crow back in the 1990s when it appeared on her self-titled 1996 album. Cash would go on to hear the song for the first time in 2003, shortly before his death in September of that year. Cash apparently asked a lot of questions about what the various lyrics penned by Crow may have meant, as he didn’t want to perform a cover the song without connecting with its core meaning, according to a statement shared via press release. Cash’s cover of “Redemption Day” would go on to appear on his 2010 American VI: Ain’t No Grave album.
In an April interview with Nashville Public Radio, Crow shared that Threads will most likely be her last studio album. She explained,
It takes a lot of time and money and energy to create a fully artistic statement with a beginning, a middle and end. And, you know, you hope you have a song that lands on a playlist somewhere. People just don’t listen to albums anymore. So I feel like this is a good one to go out on.
And in the future, when I write something I feel like needs to be put out, we’ll just put it out. We won’t wait to make a whole album.
Crow’s Threads collaborative album will feature 17 tracks full of the music world’s favorite musicians including Don Henley, Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, and more.
