Sheryl Crow recently released her new studio album of collaborative tracks, Threads, which arrived on August 30th via Big Machine.
Earlier this week, Crow shared a new video for the fourth track on the album, “Story Of Everything”, featuring hip-hop pioneer Chuck D, R&B vocalist Andra Day, and modern blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. The diverse array of guest musicians on “Story Of Everything” speaks to the song’s politically-charged, overarching message. Crow opens up the first verse exclaiming, “Here’s a story for you that will make your head spin ’round. Some troubled soul walks into church and guns everyone down,” referencing the recent mass shooting at a Sutherland Springs, TX church. Chuck D and Andra Day assist Crow in making stabs at gun control and corporate greed, all backed by Clark’s crispy blues guitar licks.

In an April interview with Nashville Public Radio, Crow shared that Threads will most likely be her last studio album. She explained,
It takes a lot of time and money and energy to create a fully artistic statement with a beginning, a middle and end. And, you know, you hope you have a song that lands on a playlist somewhere. People just don’t listen to albums anymore. So I feel like this is a good one to go out on.
And in the future, when I write something I feel like needs to be put out, we’ll just put it out. We won’t wait to make a whole album.
