Sierra Ferrell has announced her highly anticipated sophomore album, Trail of Flowers, and shared the single “Dollar Bill Bar”. She is also scheduled to make her national television debut tonight, Thursday, January 18th, on ABC‘s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Out March 22nd on Rounder Records, Trail of Flowers is the followup to Ferrell’s acclaimed 2021 debut Long Time Coming, which helped catapult the young singer-songwriter to widespread notoriety. She has come a long way since her days busking on the streets of New Orleans with a group of itinerant musicians, selling out every one of her live shows in 2023 and earning Emerging Artist of The Year at the 2022 Americana Honors & Awards.

Trail of Flowers was recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios with producers Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) and Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam, Gillian Welch) and features contributions from Lukas Nelson and Chris Scruggs, as well as Nikki Lane and Kristen Rogers, who provide background vocals on the new single “Dollar Bill Bar”. The album will also include the previously released single “Fox Hunt”.

“With Trail of Flowers, I wanted to make a fuller sound with bigger drums, but still stay true to the stripped-down feel of old-time music whenever it felt right,” Ferrell said. “I wanted to create something that makes people feel nostalgic for the past, but excited about the future of music. I’m just trying to put words and melodies together and build it into something people can pour their feelings into, all their happiness and sorrows, so that it changes their reality a little bit and gives them some comfort. To me music is like medicine. Whenever I write a song and it feels healing to me, I know it can heal other people too.”

Ahead of the release of Trail of Flowers, Ferrell will begin debuting more new songs on her cross-country Shoot For The Moon Tour, which includes sold-out shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club, multiple nights at LA’s Fonda Theatre and Chicago’s Thalia Hall, and stops at NYC’s Webster Hall and dozens of other notable venues. She will then join Zach Bryan for a run of stadium shows and play newly added dates with The Avett Brothers. Click below for a full list of tour dates, and to purchase tickets, visit her website.
