Good news Deadheads: The SiriusXM Grateful Dead channel will be available for free throughout the entire month of April—no subscription necessary.
Now through April 30th, fans can tune in to Channel 23 to hear fan-picked performances spanning the Dead’s entire 60-year career, popular programs like Tales from the Golden Road (hosted by Gary Lambert and David Gans) and The Big Steve Hour (hosted by Big Steve Parish), exclusive content including a new John Mayer Guest DJ special, an encore broadcast of Grahame Lesh & Friends‘ recent Unbroken Chain Phil Lesh tribute at The Capitol Theatre, and more.
Free listening is available on inactive satellite radios (some older Sirius satellite radios may not be capable of receiving the free listening channels) as well as in the SiriusXM app and web player.

Additionally, SiriusXM just announced that Channel 79, the southern rock station, will be hosted by The Brothers—featuring Allman Brothers Band veterans Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Marc Quinones, and guests—in celebration of their two highly-anticipated shows at Madison Square Garden on April 15th and 16th [ticketing information].
