The organizers behind Summer Camp Music Festival have announced a new venture, Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie, set to debut May 24th–26th, 2024 at Summer Camp’s longtime home at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL.

The new festival will retain much of what made Summer Camp such a special event while expanding on organizers’ vision of building an inclusive community around music and inspiring attendees to live a life of intention and purpose in order to create a positive impact on the world.

“The spirit and community of Summer Camp will remain, but we are excited to again push boundaries, as we did when we started Summer Camp, and expand the festival’s mission by bringing the Solshine to the forefront,” said Ian Goldberg, founder of Summer Camp and Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie.

“Soulshine had been the house of our Make a Difference program and sustainability efforts, so elevating that intentionality to the overall festival was a big part of the plan. Summer Camp had evolved into much more than a music festival, it was a community centered around music and art. I wanted to recognize that in the name by not calling it a festival but a Reverie full of music and arts, such that we all can create our experience together – and have that build intentionality in our actions once we leave.”

Founded in 2001, Summer Camp was initially hosted by moe. and eventually co-hosted by Umphrey’s McGee starting in 2006. Although the Solshine announcement did not include an artist lineup, it did promise a mix of “jam bands, electronic, bluegrass, funk, rock, and everything in between” in addition to a variety of workshops, food and craft vendors, and activities. The festival also confirmed in a Facebook comment that “Umphrey’s and moe. will still be with us. They’re family.” Goose‘s “Hungersite” can also be heard playing in the background of the announcement.
