Two years after selling out The Mercury Lounge, Space Bacon returned to New York City on Saturday with a show at Bowery Ballroom. The rising livetronica act made its grand return to NYC with help from Escaper, who welcomed special guest Luke Bemand (lespecial) for the performance.
Over its two years away from New York City, the Bronx-born quartet Space Bacon continued to raise its profile with shows in Denver, Philadelphia, and Chicago. Last year brought the release of the band’s debut LP, CONE. The 16-track collection saw Space Bacon sporting the endorsement of Anthony Thogmartin (Papadosio) who mastered the album.
Escaper also utilized its pandemic-induced downtime to bolster its discography with the release of its third, full-length studio album Apotheosis in 2020. While live concerts still remained a rarity going into 2021, the Brooklyn quartet delivered Live at Nublu, culled from the band’s December 27th, 2019 show in New York. For Saturday’s performance, the band welcomed lespecial bassist Luke Bemand to join Escaper’s patented blend of alternative funk meets psych-rock.
