Spafford on Wednesday shared pro-shot footage of the debut of a new, original song, “Giants in the Light”. The video was recorded live during the second show of the band’s two-night run at Nashville’s Basement East earlier this month on August 4th.

Appearing in the encore slot, this Jordan Fairless-led composition is structured around an earworm Brian Moss guitar riff. The looping guitar phrase acts as the centerpiece of “Giants in the Light”, as Fairless takes lead vocals with Moss and Andrew “Red” Johnson chiming in with cooing background vocals.

This modest, five-minute telling doesn’t provide much in the way of improvisation, but the song’s slinky hard rock vibes leave the door wide open for lengthy jams in the future. The video shared by the band also includes a lengthy telling of “The Reprise”, which saw the band lock into an extended funk groove that ultimately brought the Phish afterparty to a close.
