Spoon was the special musical guest on SiriusXM‘s The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday morning, where the alt-rock band delivered a cover performance of John Lennon‘s “Isolation”.

The band sticks pretty close to Lennon’s original recording of “Isolation”, which initially appeared on his 1970 solo album Plastic Ono Band. Singer Britt Daniel slid right into Lennon’s shoes as the rest of the band softly played through the start of the classic rock tune before the song ultimately opens up with plenty of raw power. Not bad for a very early morning, wake-up rock performance.

The band also performed one of their own originals in “Rent I Pay”, which is available to watch for SiriusXM Subscribers only via the SiriusXM app.
