Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to The Beacon Theatre on Saturday night for the sixth and final performance of their annual residency and the storied New York City venue.
Night six at the Beacon got started with a spirited take on “Don’t Do It”, The Band‘s fan-favorite version of the Marvin Gaye classic, “Baby Don’t You Do It”. “Do I Look Worried” was up next, followed by a fantastic two-song pairing of The Beatles‘ “Within You Without You” and their own “Just As Strange”.
Next, the band reached back to their first album, Revelator, to dust off “Shelter” for the first time since last year’s Beacon residency. From there, Tedeschi Trucks Band moved into a stretch of newer material with Signs tracks “Hard Case” and “Shame” before drifting into “Midnight In Harlem”, which featured a notably different Derek Trucks/Kebbi Williams intro than the version played on Wednesday night. After the song’s ever-present full moon projection set over the Beacon stage, the band closed out set one with a Titus Turner‘s “Sticks and Stones”.
Following an intermission and a set-opening rendition of Derek and the Dominos‘ “Tell The Truth”, Susan Tedeschi stepped to the mic to welcome hitmaking U.K.-native singer Joss Stone to the stage to assist on the next tune, a rendition of The Four Tops‘ “Lovin’ You Is Sweeter Than Ever”, another cover that was also a mainstay in The Band’s live repertoire.

After Stone made her exit, TTB continued through the final set of their 2019 Beacon residency with a celebratory take on Derek Trucks Band‘s “Joyful Noise” and their first of several nods to the Allman Brothers Band throughout the set by way of “Statesboro Blues”.
TTB Staples “Part of Me” and “Made Up Mind” were up next before the band dipped back into the Allman Brothers songbook for “Dreams”. A delicate take on Bob Dylan‘s “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” and a searing blues clinic on “How Blue Can You Get?” gave way to the set’s emotional climax: a sweeping “The Storm” that touched on “Afro Blue” before culminating in the Allmans’ “Whipping Post”. Finally, the band regrouped on stage one last time for a triumphant “With A Little Help From My Friends” encore.
