Tedeschi Trucks Band continued their spring run of shows along the west coast with an early evening performance at Mesa, AZ’s Mesa Amphitheatre on Saturday. The rock band continues to promote their latest studio album, 2019’s Signs, although they didn’t really make a point to include too much of the new material into their Saturday setlist.

Following a brief stint in Los Angeles where they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and headlined a pair of shows at the Orpheum Theatre, the band kept their momentum grooving into the Arizona desert. The band started the first half of Saturday’s performance with a mix of older originals from 2013’s Made Up Mind in “Do I Look Worried?”, “Part of Me”, and “Don’t Drift Away”. Next came “Sweet Inspiration” from Derek Trucks‘ 2009 Already Free solo LP, followed by a cover of Allman Brothers Band‘s “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’”. TTB finally pulled out one of their new tunes in “When Will I Begin” before closing out the set with a cover of Lee Dorsey‘s “Get Out Of My Life, Woman” and “Let Me Get By”.

The band returned to open up the second half of their show with the title track from Signs in “Signs, High Times” before grooving into their renditions of “High and Mighty” and “Sky is Crying”. They continued with Trucks’ “Down in the Flood” and John Prine‘s “Angel of Montgomery” before turning to the Jerry Garcia songbook for their fourth cover of the set in “Sugaree”. TTB returned to the Signs tracklisting to continue the show with “Shame”, only to then pull out a pair of tunes from 2011’s Revelator in “Midnight in Harlem” and “Bound for Glory”. The band closed the set with yet another cover, this time in Joe Tex‘s “Show Me”. The show’s one song encore sent fans home on a lively note with the bluesy performance of “Made Up Mind”.
